Roosevelt University

Social Media Consultant — 3/2021-5/2021

I was asked for by name and brought in as a ringer to help quickly revamp the social media strategy and best practices of Chicago’s Roosevelt University. Known for their social justice, environmental, and performing arts programs, there was a lot of great raw material to work with. The primary focus of the project was twofold:

The first KPI was centered around creating a comprehensive Roosevelt University Social Media Playbook that included procedure for posting social justice responses, active shooter alerts, and all other crisis responses across all owned channels. Additionally, as much of the social media at the University is run by student workers, a brand style guide and breakdown of how to effectively use the platforms was included.

The second KPI was growth based. I was tasked with working with the existing social media coordinator to build out content calendars and posting schedules through the 2021-2022 academic school year. We aimed to activate a crew of creative social media interns to produce organic content to further increase reach and engagement on two primary channels: TikTok and Instagram. The results were fabulous! We grew engagement on IG by 82% and pushed Roosevelt University into the micro-influencer space. And we grew engagement on TikTok by a whopping 2,450% and significantly increased the University’s visibility with a oversaturated Gen Z (15-18 year old) audience. A true “zero to hero” moment for us all. We had a ton of fun and a few crazy content shoot days with this super dynamic campaign. The strategy and results are still paying off for Roosevelt University today in 2023.
